Mexican pianist Mauricio Náder was born in Mexico City on February 22, 1967, he began performing at the age of nine years old and he has mantained an active career, having performed over 600 concerts. Since his recital appearances in Spain through the Prince of Asturias Foundation (1994), he has been performing extensively in Mexico, the United States, Canada, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Belize, Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Cuba and Puerto Rico. In some of the festivals where he has performed, other artists have included pianists Alicia de Larrocha and György Sándor, to name a few. His face is printed, along with some of the most outstanding Mexican artists of the 20th century, on the commemorative stamp entitled "México del Siglo XX al Tercer Milenio/Arte" (Mexico in the Twentieth Century, at the turn of the Third Millennium/Art) issued by the Mexican Postal Service in 2000. He was selected to perform before President Felipe Calderón and the Prince of Asturias during the Prince's official visit to Mexico in 2008. His appearances for the 2008-2009 season include concerts in Mexico, as well as in Central-America, Puerto Rico, the United States and Europe.

He debuted as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra (Mexico) at the age of nineteen years old. Since then, he has been invited by merely all of Mexico's major orchestras, as well as by diverse orchestras of Europe and the American continent. Among some of the conductors with whom he has worked, one can mention Luis Herrera de la Fuente, Enrique Diemecke, Francisco Savín, Fernando Lozano, Jesús Medina, Carlos Miguel Prieto, Eduardo Diazmuñoz, Enrique Barrios, José Guadalupe Flores, Juan Carlos Lomónaco, Román Revueltas, Juan Trigos, Donald Neuen , Roger Nierenberg, Angel Gil Ordóñez, Gordon Campbell, Rossen Milanov, Alexander Kaladjzic, José Luis Castillo, Enrique Ricci, Uwe Grodd, Leonardo Gasparini and Berislav Skenderovic.

His interpretative warmth, the power of his artistic personality and his ability to face an immense repertory ranging from the Baroque to the contemporary music have led him to become one of today's Latinamerican musicians who most hold the attention of the organizers of festivals and orchestras of Mexico and abroad. Mr. Náder's work can be appreciated in over twenty compact discs, which exemplify his natural ability to appear as a soloist, in chamber music and as a vocal accompanist.

In 1996 he obtained the First Prize at the "Bartók-Kabalevsky" International Piano Competition and the same year he received the Commemorative Medal of the Austrian Millennium; in 2008 he received a "Most Distinguished" mention at the Ibla Grand Prize-World Music Competition. He has received fellowships from the National Fund for Culture and the Art under the category of "performers with an outstanding career". In 2004 he was invited as a resident pianist for the Instrumenta Summer Sessions; since that same year he performs through the management of the Concert Artsists Group (National Fine Arts Institute of Mexico) and he is Academic Director/Piano Professor at the Mexican Center of Graduate Studies in Music, in Puebla, Mexico. At present he is a member of the Ensamble 3, a leading Mexican trio devoted to contemporary music.

Mr. Náder has been a juror for the piano Competitions held at the University of Radford (USA; 1997, 1998 & 2003) for the Bucaramanga International Piano Festival and Competition (Colombia, 2001) and the "Angelica Morales" National Piano Competition (Mexico, 2006); he has also been in the jury panel for many artistic-related competitions run by the Mexican government.

The critics have refered to him: "When Mauricio Náder plays the piano, he awakens the spirit of passion, sensuality, exaltation, energy and voluptuousity."; "Mauricio showed the virtuosism, experience and ability of one who dares to face passages of devilish difficulty"; "He displays fantasy, discipline, talent and commitment."

Some of his private students have received prizes at National and International piano competitions, while others have been accepted to continue their musical studies at institutions such as The Manhattan School of Music and the University of Houston (USA); the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatorium at Milan (Italy); the Superior School of Music of Santander; the Escorial Conservatorium (Spain) and the Rotterdam Conservatorium (Holand).

Mr. Náder held musical studies at the National Music Conservatory (Mexico), the University of Houston (BM) and the Eastman School of Music (MM), where he was unanimously awarded the Performers' Certificate. His teachers were Carlos Bueno, María Teresa Rodríguez, Nancy Weems and Anton Nel.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

In addition to his career as a soloist, Mexican pianist Mauricio Náder also devotes a great amount of time to other activities in his native country and abroad:

--He pursues Chamber Music projects.
--Offers Private Lessons and Master Classes (piano and chamber music).
--Appears as juror for piano/music competitions.
--Performs recording projects (CDs, TV commercials, Films, Videos, etc.).
--Writes music articles.

Some of his private students have received prizes at National and International piano competitions, while others have been accepted to continue their musical studies at institutions such as The Manhattan School of Music and the University of Houston (USA); the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatorium at Milan (Italy); the Superior School of Music of Santander; the Escorial Conservatorium (Spain) and the Rotterdam Conservatorium (Hollanda).

Mauricio Náder is a Founder, Academic Director and Piano professor at the Mexican Center of Graduate Studies in Music (Puebla, Mexico). Liekwise, Mr. Náder has offered a great number of masterclasses in Mexico, SouthAmerica and the United States, and he has been a juror for the Bartók-Kabalewsky International Piano Competition (USA) with late pianist Gyorgy Sándor and the Universidad Industrial Santander's National Piano Competition (Colombia), the "Angélica Morales" National Piano Competition (México) and the Manuel de Falla Piano Competition, among others. He has also been in the Selection Committee for the grants offered by the National Fund for Culture and the Arts and the State Culture Institutes.

El pianista mexicano Mauricio Náder Schekaibán nació en la Ciudad México el 22 de Febrero de 1967, se inició en el concertismo a los nueve años de edad y ha mantenido una activa carrera que lo ha llevado a los escenarios en más de 600 ocasiones. A partir de sus actuaciones en las Semanas de Música de la Fundación Príncipe de Asturias de España en 1994, se ha presentado en diversos escenarios de México, Estados Unidos, Alemania, Bulgaria, Italia, Noruega, Portugal, Belice, Brasil, Colombia, El Salvador, Cuba y Puerto Rico. En algunos de los festivales en los que se ha presentado, el programa general también ha incluido a artistas de la talla de Alicia de Larrocha y György Sándor, por nombrar a algunos. Fue seleccionado para tocar para el Presidente Felipe Calderón y para el Príncipe de Asturias durante la visita oficial del Príncipe a México en 2008. Sus compromisos para la temporada 2008-2009 incluyen conciertos en México y en Centroamérica, Puerto Rico, Estados Unidos y Europa.

A los diecinueve años de edad debutó en el Palacio de Bellas Artes como solista de la Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional y desde entonces ha sido solista de la mayoría de las orquestas de su país, así como de diversas orquestas de Europa, Centro y Sudamérica. Ha trabajado bajo la batuta de numerosos directores de México, del continente Americano y de Europa, de entre los cuales se destacan Luis Herrera de la Fuente, Enrique Diemecke, Francisco Savín, Fernando Lozano, Jesús Medina, Carlos Miguel Prieto, Eduardo Diazmuñoz, Enrique Barrios, José Guadalupe Flores, Juan Carlos Lomónaco, Román Revueltas, Juan Trigos, Donald Neuen , Roger Nierenberg, Angel Gil Ordóñez, Gordon Campbell, Rossen Milanov, Alexander Kaladjzic, José Luis Castillo, Enrique Ricci, Uwe Grodd, Leonardo Gasparini y Berislav Skenderovic.

Su calidez interpretativa, el poder de su personalidad artística y su capacidad de abordar un inmenso repertorio que abarca desde la música barroca hasta la contemporánea le han permitido convertirse en uno de los músicos latinoamericanos que más llaman la atención de los organizadores de festivales de México y del extranjero. Su trabajo se puede apreciar en más de una veintena de discos compactos que resaltan su interés por desempeñarse tanto como solista como en música de cámara y como acompañante de cantantes.

En 1996 obtuvo el Primer Lugar en el Concurso Internacional de Piano "Bartók-Kabalevsky" y el mismo año recibió la Medalla Conmemorativa del Milenio de Austria; en el 2008 recibió el reconocimiento a la "Máxima Distinción" en el Ibla Grand Prize-World Music Competition; también ha sido becario del FONCA bajo la categoría de "intérpretes con trayectoria destacada". En febrero del 2004 ingresó al Grupo de Concertistas de Bellas Artes y ese mismo año fungió como pianista residente del proyecto Instrumenta Verano. Actualmente es integrante del Ensamble 3 y desde el 2006 es Director Académico/Profesor de Piano del Centro Mexicano de Posgrado en Música. Ha sido juez de los concursos de piano de la Universidad de Radford (EUA; 1997, 1998, 2003), del Festival Internacional de Piano de Bucaramanga (Colombia; 2001) y del Concurso Nacional de Piano "Angélica Morales" (México; 2006); también ha formado parte de la Comisión de Evaluación del Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA), del Consejo Estatal para la Cultura y las Artes de Zacatecas y del Instituto de Cultura de Yucatán.

Otros concursos de piano en los que ha obtenido Primeros Lugares incluyen: Texas Music Teachers' Association Competition (1990), Tuesday Musical Club Young Artists Awards (1990), Concurso Nacional de Xalapa (1994) y Concurso Nacional Edvard Grieg (1995). A nivel internacional también ha recibido premios en el Victoria Young Musicians' Competition (1991), el International Chopin Piano Competition (Texas, 1995) y el International Audio and Video Tape Piano Competition (1996). En 1991 fue Finalista con Mención Honorífica en el Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition.

Mauricio Náder se formó musicalmente en el Conservatorio Nacional de Música, en la Escuela de Música de la Universidad de Houston y la Eastman School of Music, en donde obtuvo el grado de Maestría en Piano y fue premiado con el Performer's Certificate. Sus maestros fueron Carlos Bueno, María Teresa Rodríguez, Nancy Weems y Anton Nel.

ACTIVIDADES PROFESIONALES

De manera paralela a su carrera como solista, el pianista mexicano Mauricio Náder también lleva a cabo otras actividades profesionales complementarias tanto en su país como en el extranjero:

--Se presenta en proyectos de música de cámara.
--Imparte clases privadas.
--Ofrece cursos y clases maestras (piano y música de cámara).
--Funge como juez de concursos de piano/música.
--Realiza grabaciones para CDs, Comerciales, Películas, Videos, etcétera.
--Escribe artículos sobre música.

Algunos de sus alumnos privados han recibido premios en concursos Nacionales e Internacionales de piano, mientras que otros han sido seleccionados para continuar sus estudios musicales en instituciones de la importancia de la Manhattan School of Music y la Universidad of Houston (EUA), el Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi de Milan (Italia), la Escuela Superior de Música de Santander, el Conservatorio de El Escorial (España) y el Conservatorio de Rotterdam (Holanda).

Mauricio Náder es Fundador, Director Académico y Profesor de Piano del Centro Mexicano de Postgrado en Música (Puebla, México), el cual abrió sus puertas en Enero del 2006 con el objeto de enfatizar la excelencia entre los estudiantes de música mexicanos y extranjeros.

Así mismo, Mauricio Nàder ha ofrecido un gran número de Clases maestras en México, Sudamérica y Estados Unidos, a la vez que ha sido juez del Concurso Internacional de Piano Bartók-Kabalewsky (USA) al lado del pianista Gyorgy Sándor y el Concurso Nacional de Piano de la Universidad Industrial Santander (Colombia); en México ha sido juez del Concurso Nacional de Piano "Angélica Morales", el Concurso de Piano Manuel de Falla (México) y los concursos de la Escuela Nacional de Música y la Escuela Superior de Música entre otros, y ha formado parte de la Comisión de Evaluación de las convocatorias emitidas por los Institutos de Cultura de varios Estados de la República Mexicana. En Noviembre del 2007 formará parte del Jurado para el Concurso Nacional de Piano "Edvard Grieg".
